Lambeth's local list asks for a linear scale bar on every drawing, north on plans, your neighbours' windows and doors on the plans, a drawn cycle store and any biodiversity features. Its guidance on invalid applications also lists mismatched drawings. We draw the set to that list.

What Lambeth Council asks of a householder planning application

From the council's Local Information Requirements (the Local List) 2024 (adopted 2024 edition, published December 2025, read 25 October 2026).

  • Lambeth's local list requires elevations, floor plans, cross sections and roof plans drawn to metric scale, each with a linear scale bar, and the floor plans must also show the direction of north. (source, checked 25 October 2026)
  • Elevations must be detailed and annotated with the materials, style and finish of windows and doors. Where an elevation adjoins or is near another building, the drawing must show the relationship and the positions of window and door openings on each property. (source, checked 25 October 2026)
  • Floor plans are needed for every level affected, titled and numbered, annotated with the use of existing and proposed floor areas, at 1:100 or 1:200, showing the position and size of adjoining properties' windows and doors, the layout of cycle stores and any integrated biodiversity features; each unit in a multi-unit scheme gets its own reference. (source, checked 25 October 2026)
  • Long and short cross sections through the existing and proposed building are required, and where ground levels change the sections must show existing and finished site and floor levels and the neighbouring levels. (source, checked 25 October 2026)
  • Roof plans must specify the roofing materials and their locations, show falls with arrows, and mark roof plant, solar panels, terraces and accessible areas; for solar panels the sections show projection and angle. (source, checked 25 October 2026)
  • Where substantial demolition is proposed, the areas to be demolished must be highlighted hatched in red; Lambeth defines substantial demolition as generally over 50 per cent of the external fabric of a non-listed building. (source, checked 25 October 2026)

What Lambeth householder planning application drawings have to show

A Lambeth set is checked line by line against its local list. Every elevation, plan, section and roof plan is to metric scale with a linear scale bar, the floor plans carry north, and each is titled and numbered so the plans, elevations and sections agree on where the doors and windows are. Lambeth's own notes on invalid applications list mismatched drawings.

We draw your neighbours into the set: their windows and doors on the floor plans and elevations where your building is close to theirs. We add the cycle store, any biodiversity features such as a bird or bat brick, and the materials on the roof plan with arrows for the falls. Sections include the neighbouring levels where the ground changes.

Lambeth householder planning application questions

What does Lambeth need on planning drawings?
Drawings to metric scale with a linear scale bar, north on the floor plans, each drawing titled and numbered, and the plans, elevations and sections consistent with one another. Floor plans also show the adjoining properties' windows and doors, cycle stores and any integrated biodiversity features, annotated with the use of each area.
What scale does Lambeth want floor plans at?
1:100 or 1:200, drawn to metric scale with a linear scale bar and the direction of north. Where a scheme has several units, each is given its own reference such as unit 1. Plans are needed for every level affected, and the elevations and sections use the same metric standard with a linear scale bar.
When does Lambeth count demolition as substantial?
Generally when over 50 per cent of the external fabric of a non-listed building is to go. In that case the areas to be demolished must be highlighted hatched in red on the plans, and for listed buildings the fabric to be removed is hatched in red on both plan and elevation.
